In a strongly worded intervention at the Pattambi Taluk Development Committee meeting, Thiruvegappura Gram Panchayat President, who represents the Indian Union Muslim League, leveled sharp criticism against the local police and excise authorities for perceived inaction on key civic and law-and-order issues.
The president highlighted that despite government assurances prioritizing women’s safety and zero-tolerance measures against illicit narcotics, local enforcement units have displayed alarming apathy in curbing open drug abuse and anti-social gatherings across village junctions.
Pointing to specific complaints lodged by local residents, the panchayat chief urged higher police and excise officials to institute regular night patrolling, monitor suspicious supply networks near educational institutions, and enforce strict surveillance to protect neighborhood peace and public safety.
