PALAKKAD: Political circles in Kerala are embroiled in a raging controversy following the resignation of E.N. Suresh Babu from the post of CPM Palakkad District Secretary. The controversy was fueled by a Facebook post from former Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, which alleged that a woman was behind the resignation. Rahul's post raised allegations involving a female advocate from Ottapalam.

When journalists questioned whether this complaint prompted his resignation, E.N. Suresh Babu retorted, Aren't those raising such questions prominent journalists? Let them prove it first. Both the new secretary and E.N. Suresh Babu responded in unison, dismissing Rahul Mamkootathil's claims as sheer nonsense. These remarks were made during a joint press conference held by the two in Palakkad.

Explanation That It Was a Voluntary Resignation

E.N. Suresh Babu clarified that he stepped down of his own accord. While noting that the party performed better in Palakkad compared to other districts in the state, he admitted that certain issues persist both organizationally and in the realm of political intervention. He explained that for these issues to be effectively resolved, it is best for someone without personal controversies or baggage to lead. This is why he voluntarily resigned, Suresh Babu explained, adding that he himself nominated V. Chendamarakshan as the new secretary. He also reminded reporters that he continues to be a member of the party's district secretariat and state committee.

Meanwhile, V. Chendamarakshan, who took charge as the new district secretary, announced the new office-bearers of the Palakkad District Committee and briefed the media on upcoming organizational activities and challenges. The new leadership affirmed that they will spearhead even more robust party operations.
