Palakkad: In a major crackdown as part of the Kerala government's anti-narcotics initiative 'Operation Tuffan', the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) jointly seized over 20 kilograms of dried ganja at the Palakkad railway station.
The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around Rs 10 lakh in the illegal market. The raid was conducted as part of intensified surveillance and security checks across railway stations to curb the trafficking of banned substances into the state.
Operation Team
The joint operation was carried out under the supervision of RPF Crime Intelligence Branch Sub-Inspector Deepak A.P. and GRP Sub-Inspector Praveen. The raiding team included RPF Palakkad Assistant Sub-Inspector Shaju Kumar and RPF Crime Intelligence constables N. Sreejith and Prasad M.
The GRP Palakkad has registered a case and initiated a detailed probe into the incident. Authorities are investigating the source of the shipment and potential interstate networks involved in the smuggling ring. Security has been further tightened across major transit points following the seizure.
