The Palakkad District Hospital has scored 94.72 percent marks in the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) evaluation, which was devised by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to ensure safe and quality treatment for patients in public health centers. With this, the hospital will get financial assistance of Rs 4 crore 74 lakh every year for three consecutive years from the Ministry of Family Health and Welfare. The amount is sanctioned at the rate of Rs.10,000 per bed per year. Based on this, the amount received by Palakkad District Hospital has been calculated. With this, more funds are available for the infrastructure development of the hospital.
NQAS is conducted in institutions like Government Hospitals, Family Health Centers (FHC), Primary Health Centers (PHC) and Urban Health Centres. The central team rated the hospital highly on patient safety, infection control, patient rights, infrastructure and quality management. The examination was conducted at Palakkad District Hospital on August 7 and 8 last. District Panchayat President S B Raju said that continuous training and proper implementation of patient friendly measures led the hospital to this excellence.
The Palakkad District Panchayat is planning to organize a felicitation meeting for the eight hundred employees who worked behind the achievement. Certificates and badges will be distributed to employees and trophies to various departments of the hospital as a gift from Palakkad District Panchayat
