Govind Raj, a native of Kizhakkencherry in Palakkad district, has breathed a sigh of immense relief after surviving the catastrophic flood disaster in Nepal, while simultaneously mourning the heartbreaking loss of his close colleagues.
While Govind Raj was at home celebrating the Onam festivities with his family in Kerala, tragic news arrived that a flash flood had swept through his workplace in Nepal, engulfing the premises and claiming several colleagues with whom he shared living quarters.
Govind Raj was working as an engineer in an infrastructure project in Nepal. Having taken leave to travel back to his hometown in Palakkad for the festive holiday, his planned absence miraculously spared him from being present during the sudden deluge triggered by incessant torrential rainfall.
Reliving the harrowing moments, Govind Raj expressed heartfelt grief over the departed souls and stated that communication channels with local emergency response units are being monitored closely to offer any possible assistance to the affected families.
