Onam Samriddhi 2026 Farmers Markets have started in the district under the leadership of the Department of Agriculture with the aim of providing easy access to non-toxic vegetables during Onam. In Mankara, Minister of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Welfare Department K.A. Tulsi inaugurated the first market. The minister said that the government aims to stop the price rise during the season and bring quality products to the people at low prices. Through the government mechanisms including Kutumbasree, VFPCK and Horticorp, exploitation of middlemen in the market can be avoided. The Minister also stated that only if the people's representatives and officials work together, the common people can celebrate Onam without any difficulty.
Mankara Gram Panchayat President K.A. Vineetha, District Panchayat Member Mukundanunni, Block Panchayat Member S. Ginsi, Mankara Gram Panchayat Vice President K.R. Shajeev, Agriculture Department Deputy Directors A. Nandakumar, M.B. Satish, Assistant Director Rashmi Krishna, Mankara Agriculture Officer C. Mukunda Kumar and others participated.
The farmers market organized under the joint auspices of Agriculture Department, VFPCK and Horti Corp will run till August 25. Non-toxic vegetables produced locally by farmers in different areas of the district are sold through the markets
