Palakkad: The police found a local gun factory that was operating illegally in Attapadi. Three people were arrested in connection with the incident. Local guns were manufactured in sheds in an orchard spread over 16 acres at Mele Kuruwanpadi under Sholayur police station limits.
Following a tip-off, the investigation was jointly led by ATS, Mannarkkad DANSAF team and Sholayur police. A search was conducted around the 16-acre plantation and three ready-made country guns, tools and other materials used in gun-making were found.
Police also seized about 20 liters of Vatucharaya from the garden.
Sarasan, an expert in local gun making, and his assistants Sumesh and Daniel were arrested. Police are seeking more information about the arrestees and the manufacturing of the gun.
