Addressing media representatives in Palakkad, senior CPM leaders expressed grave dismay over the Union Railway Ministry's persistent efforts to fragment the Palakkad Railway Division, urging both the State Government and elected representatives to mount unified pressure.
The leaders stressed that bifurcating the historic division would drastically diminish railway development in northern Kerala and lead to reduction in staff strength, maintenance facility upgrades, and train stoppages.
Calling for urgent parliamentary and legal interventions, the party demanded that the elected Member of Parliament lead a multi-party delegation to meet the Union Railway Minister and ensure that the interests of commuters and workers in Palakkad are fully protected.
