The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has intensified its opposition against the proposed move to carve out portions of the Palakkad Railway Division, announcing high-profile demonstrations with top national and state leaders slated to visit Palakkad.
Party representatives pointed out that the Palakkad Railway Division has historically suffered neglect in project sanctions, train allocations, and track doubling works despite consistently generating strong passenger and freight revenues.
The proposed division, which threatens to transfer commercially viable track sections to neighboring zones, has provoked widespread resentment among passenger associations, railway employee unions, and trade bodies across the Malabar region.
CPM organizers declared that mass picketing campaigns, station-level agitations, and rail roko protests will be organized unless the Ministry of Railways unconditionally withdraws the bifurcation proposal and safeguards the territorial integrity of the Palakkad division.
