Flags flew in the sky of Kalpathi to announce the arrival of the chariots. The main temple of Rathotsavam, Vishalakshisametha Vishwanatha Swamy temple, started the ceremony from 6 am with yagashala pujas. After recitation of Vedas and Rudrabhishekam at 8 o'clock, Swami's departure took place at 10 o'clock. It was around 11:45 that the nation was waiting for the flag.

Hundreds of devotees gathered in front of the main temple chanting Hara Hara Mahadeva Mantra Temple Tantri Ratnasabhapati,

Dhwajarohana of Rathotsavam took place after the poojas and camphor aarti under the leadership of Prabhudevasenapati. The flag inscribed with the picture of Nandikesan flew high above the stone pavements. The devotees joined hands in prayer. New Kalpathi Mandakkara Mahaganapati Temple, Old Kalpathi Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple and Chathapuram Prasanna Mahaganapati Temple participated in the chariot festival. Kotiate was held in the temples from 9 30 am to 11 45 am. Special pujas will be held in temples from today.

The fifth Thirunal, the most important ceremony of Rathotsavam, Devasangam, will be held at midnight on the twelfth.
