Palakkad: Kozhikode native who was seriously injured in a car accident in Palakkad died while undergoing treatment. The deceased is Devika (21), the youngest daughter of Mavoor Arayankot Kaikalatmethal Sasikumar and Sini. A tragic accident took place near Mangalamkunn on the Palakkad-Cherplassery road yesterday evening.
Devika's sister Arunima and nephew Abhijith were traveling in a pickup van that collided with a lorry coming from Tamil Nadu. Abhijith was driving the vehicle. The group was going to Kozhikode from Palakkad. The front of the pickup van was completely destroyed by the impact. Then the three people who were trapped inside the vehicle were pulled out by the locals and other passengers and admitted to the private medical college in Mangote. Devika was later shifted to Kozhikode for specialist treatment but she died early this morning.

Aditya Palakkatte, the other sister of the accident sisters, is a bank employee. The accident took place when the fridge bought for them was loaded in a pickup auto and returned after delivering it to Palakkad. It was raining in the area at the time of the incident. Although the eyewitnesses say that the vehicle they were traveling in skidded off the road, there was no official confirmation.
