Palakad ∙ The indefinite strike by house surgeons of Palakkad Govt.Medical College is being extended outside the college, demanding that basic facilities and supply of medicines be ensured. The house surgeons demanded that the people's representatives including the minister should come in person and pave the way for solving the problem. 
The strike is being spread outside in a situation where the MLA, Collector and others are not interfering in the matter. The protesters also informed that they got the support of the Indian Medical Association for the strike. In the discussion with the director of the medical college yesterday, the director had informed that the demands of the strikers would be accepted. It was assured that the medicines will be delivered to the pharmacy the next day and that steps will be taken to appoint staff in X-ray and lab. However, the surgeons informed that the strike is intensifying due to lack of action. The surgeons are of the position that the strike will be withdrawn only if the minister comes in person and gives a written assurance as the verbal assurances have not been fulfilled
