The state committee meeting of All Kerala Bus Operators Organization will meet at Palakkad on the 8th of this month to deliberate on the suspension of private buses in the state. This was informed by the state general secretary of the organization T Gopinathan. The report of the committee appointed by the government to study the impact of Priyadarshini buses on the private bus industry is nothing to comfort the private bus owners.
The important demand to allow zero ticketing for women boarding private buses has not been considered. The report also ignored the demand of bus owners to recognize bus transport as an industry. Demand for increase in charge, subsidy on diesel and increase in student concessions have not been considered. Running a bus in such a state only causes loss to the owners. In this situation, Gopinathan said that a meeting will be held in Palakkad on the 8th of this month to discuss about stopping the buses in the state.
